After reading an article in the scootering regarding schwalbe tyres, and fitting them to 2 of my scooters recently should i be worried. The fact that the information has been passed on to VOSA is concerning. what do you,s think.......

I had the racemans on mine with no trouble at all.......but after reading all the horror stories, when they needed changed I decided not to put a new set on (used the sip performer ones instead - they seem to be alright too, considering how cheap they are).

I've used Schwalbe racemans and weathermans and never had a problem but to be on the safe side I'm now using Sava MC31 medium compound tyres from MBD

I know what your saying folks, always fitted continental before, and would fit michelin, before any if they had a decent scooter tyre, i am a tickiler for tyres as i spend a lot of money every year on the black stuff.(trucks) I have them on sin city and had a cracking ride with them on the way to Scarborough this year.

n social media there are currently several reports of Schwalbe Scooter tyres with blistering of the tread. Our position is as follows: We have examined all cases very carefully and have simulated the phenomenon in our laboratory. Result: Such separation can only occur if the tire has been extremely overloaded for a long period of time. E.g. extremely high loads on small 10” wheels or continuous operation at significantly low air pressure. We can absolutely assure users that such damage pattern cannot occur during normal operation. You can find pressure recommendations for all tires on our website now. Please ensure that these recommendations are adhered to. When riding with a passenger, the air pressure at the rear should be at least 0.3 bar above the minimum pressure. This information can be viewed at the following website: www.schwalbe.com/gbl and visiting the produst information page for scooter tyres In addition, the current models of tyres are listed on this page. To view the recommended tyre pressure for any particular tyre, first choose the tyre you wish to view and click the green plus button next to size. Schwalbe apologise for the delay in publishing this information but they believed that it was best to collate the correct information before making a public statement. This information will also be released to the UK press for publication.
